If you know me at all, you know that I LOVE taking pictures & am rarely without my camera! I usually come home from most vacations with THOUSANDS of pictures to go through. But, as many photographers notice after returning home from your trips, you might not be in as many pictures as you thought you were. I find it very important to make it a point to BE IN PICTURES myself, so I am “in” the vacation memories.
The Memory Maker photo package that you can ADD-ON to your Disney vacations is an amazing way to do this. WHOLE group photos without having to look around for someone to ask a favor of.
What exactly is Memory Maker?
Well, there are Disney Photo Pass Photographers located throughout all of the Disney parks & other various locations around the Walt Disney World Resort (also Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, & Au’lani Resort in Hawaii). You will be able to recognize them with their tan vest & big cameras around their necks (although at Walt Disney World, they are getting a brightly colored uniform change soon). They are usually found in many spots near the “icons” of each theme park, character meeting locations & some restaurants. There is also a Disney Photo Pass photography studio located in Disney Springs.
They will take LOTS of pictures of your group with their cameras & when they are done, they will scan your Magic Band (if you are a Disney resort guest) or give you a Photo Pass card with a code to enter into your MyDisneyExperience account. You can also give them your personal camera, and they will snap a few on there as well.
When you return home, you have a certain amount of time to download those photos to your computer or phone. These pictures end up being my favorite souvenir!

Another fun feature of the Memory Maker Package is that any attractions that have photos or videos taken, will be linked to your account too! Some are automatic & others have screens with the photos after you exit the ride. Find your picture & scan your Magic Band at the coordinating “Mickey Head!”

There are also some fun & unique MAGIC SHOTS!!! Some of the photographers are located in a spot that has a fun twist to their photos. The photographer might ask you to hold up your hand, look surprised, look down, etc. You won’t know why, but when you take a look at the photos in your account…you will notice a little extra MAGIC in your photos. Some photographers will automatically do these, but it is always best to just ask the photographer if they have any magic shots for you. Since the magic shots are always changing, there is a Facebook page for Disney PhotoPass that you can check before you leave for your trip that will show you the CURRENT locations of these special photo ops.

How much does Memory Maker cost?
Prices can change at any time, but it is currently $169 if you purchase it at least a week before your trip. You can also add it after your travel, but it would be $199 at that time.
Do I still bring my own camera?
100%…I definitely do! Since you don’t have a personal photo pass photographer with you at all times, I feel like you need a camera for the little “magical moments” that you want to remember. And, there are certain things that you will want to capture with the best camera that you have. The biggest example I can think of? Your ride on the Kilimanjaro Safari!!! With a great camera, you are going to be able to take some amazing photos that a phone wouldn’t be able to. Check out these animals…
